🚗 Electric Vehicle Sales Are Accelerating İn TÜRKİYE.
22/04/2026
🚗 Screens are getting bigger in cars… So will no one stopp this?
07/05/2026🔁 Can a hybrid vehicle even offer electric vehicle-level POWER?
Answer: Yes now!
Chinese manufacturer Geely announced that its engine, which it introduced last week, has reached a Guinness-approved fuel consumption value!
👉 Geely’s next-generation i-HEV system:
- 230 kW electric motor power*
- 3 Litres/100 km consumption (WLTP)
- Up to 80% electrically assisted driving
- It offers a thermal efficiency of 48.4%.
This shows that the HYBRID view can now move to a completely different level on the customer side.
* 230kW motor in the i-HEV System;
🚘has approximately 4 times more powerful than Turkey’s best-selling “Hybrid Vehicle Model” TOYOTA Hybrid having 70kW engine!
🚘 is more powerful than our country’s best-selling “Electric Vehicle Model” TOGG T10X RWD (@ first quarter of 2026) having 160kW engine!
⚠️ Analysis of the Agency
• With the introduction of high-electricity rate hybrid technologies such as Geely i-HEV, which are not yet available in our country : The preference for hybrids is expected to become stronger.
• This development makes the perception of range and charging dependence, which is the weakest point of electric vehicles, more visible.
• The electric transformation in Turkey is not progressing in the form of a direct transition. Hybrid is the main carrier of this transformation , not the transition .
👉 Consequences:
This strengthening of the hybrid could suppress demand for electric vehicles in the short term.
Could the Hybrid vs Electric competition be just beginning?
*Calculation Details
- Gasoline price: 62.5 TL/Liter
- Electricity price:
- AC: 9.95 TL/kWh
- DC: 14 TL/kWh
- Usage: 40% AC / 60% DC → 12.38 TL/kWh average
- Consumption Figures (Official Web Pages of Brands):
- Tesla Model Y: 13.1 kWh/100 km
- TOGG T10X: 19.5 kWh/100 km
- Toyota Hybrid: 4,5 L/100 km
- Geely i-HEV: 3 L/100 km (manufacturer’s data)
Note: Actual consumption may vary depending on driving style, speed, climate and usage scenario
