🔊 Over the Last 10 Years (2015- 2024):
•The population has increased by only 9%. (78.7 million –> 85.6 million)
• Number of driver’s licenses: Increased by 31%. ( 27.5 million–> 36.0 million) •Number of vehicles: increased by 57%. (20 Million –>31.3 Million)
🔹 Situation in large provinces in terms of driving license (2024):
• Istanbul: 47.6%
• Ankara: 49.3%
• Izmir: 44.4% • Bursa: 40.4%
• Antalya: 37.2%
📌 Almost half of the population in Istanbul and Ankara has a driver’s license! These two cities will continue to shine for the automotive future.
📌 The fact that Antalya and Bursa are below the average of Turkey (42%) gives negative signals for the future of the automotive industry.
🔹 Provinces with the highest qualification rate:
• Kırıkkale (54.2%)
• Isparta (53.2%)
• Burdur (52.6%)
📌 For automotive brands in provinces with a HIGH license rate and even in the surrounding provinces, these provinces can be evaluated positively in terms of “investment and potential”.
🔹 Provinces with the lowest driving license rate:
• Şanlıurfa (24.6%) • Şırnak (26.6%) • Iğdır (27.8%)
🔹 Major provinces in the number of driver’s licenses per vehicle: • Istanbul: 1.28 • Ankara: 1.04 • Izmir: 1.02 • Bursa: 1.05 • Antalya: 0.64
📌 The fact that all major provinces except Istanbul are lower than the average of Turkey (1.15) does not give positive signals for the near future of the automotive industry in these provinces! The dominance of tourism transportation in Antalya is an exception to this rate.
🔹 The provinces with the highest number of driver’s licenses per vehicle: • Hakkari (9,14) • Pain (4,67) • Sirnak (4,02)
🔹 The provinces with the lowest number of driver’s licenses per vehicle: • Mugla (0,62) • Antalya (0.64) • Aydın (0,71)
📌 The low rate draws attention in provinces with intensive service and tourism transportation.
⚠️ Things to Consider:
• The increase in the number of vehicles at a higher rate than the population growth and the number of driver’s licenses shows that the automotive industry has evolved into an “investment purpose” service rather than an organic service.
• The fact that the young population has a fast driver’s license supports the dynamism of the automotive industry.
• Provinces with high qualification rates are attractive regions for investment in the future.
