Notable Headlines from the Report:
➡️ Historical performance: There was a 12% increase in density in 2025 compared to 2024 and a 30% increase compared to 2023!
➡️ Average speed: only 20km/h 🐌
➡️ Time in traffic: 118 minutes ⌛️

ℹ️ Shall we try to evaluate the issue from a different perspective? How much can we save if we reduce the time spent in traffic in Istanbul by just “5 minutes?”
✅ DAILY return of reducing Istanbul traffic by only 5 minutes: ≈ 32 Million TL
ANNUAL RETURN: 32 million TL x 250 days ≈ 8 Billion TL
(Detailed calculations are in the presentation)
⚠️ So what can be done with this money?
1️⃣ Eurasia Tunnel in Return for Major Infrastructure (for comparison): ~1.2 billion USD (construction cost) In other words, just 5 minutes of traffic recovery approaches the financial scale of a giant mega project.
2️⃣ 25–30 km new metro line. The most permanent investment that relieves traffic.
This means connecting a district in Istanbul from start to finish underground.
3️⃣ 4,000–5,000 fast charging stations
This number completely transforms
4️⃣ Istanbul’s electric vehicle infrastructure ⃣ 40–50 new schools
This means new education areas for approximately 40–50 thousand students.
🧠 The real question is:
Should we throw this money out of the exhaust or invest it in the city?
